analysis Truthout publishes: If we want to see our world change for the be=
tter - if we want any measure of justice - then we need to be ambitious.
Timid reforms will not be enough to dismantle the surveillance state that, =
with each new revelation, we learn has encroached further into our privacy =
without permission. A few small uncontroversial tweaks here and there won't=
fix the problems of our broken criminal justice system, which imprisons so=
many people for non-violent drug offenses while failing to convict bankste=
rs, war criminals and killers who "stand their ground."
Unless we have ambition, we don't have a hope of addressing the economic in=
equality that only seems to become more entrenched with every passing year.=
And we certainly don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of halting our sp=
ecies' catastrophic destruction of the climate.
We know Truthout's readers recognize the need to be ambitious about change.=
If these bold ambitions are to have any hope of success, they will require=
coverage by media that is both genuinely independent from corporate influe=
nce and committed to transformative change.
