nack company to a pornographic website was busy appropriating the legacy of=
Martin Luther King, Jr., in order to drum up attention and ultimately prof=
it.
Local police forces and government agencies, too, were polishing up their i=
mages by invoking Dr King, regardless of how their current practices treat =
people fighting for justice (or just trying to navigate major American citi=
es without being racially profiled).
We're not going to insult our readers' intelligence by suggesting a special=
connection between Truthout's mission and MLK's life and work. We should b=
e so lucky.
But we will say this: In 2014, Truthout is committed to continuing to cover=
injustice, wherever it rears its head, and the people standing against it.=
Whether it's racism at the polls or in courtrooms and prisons, workers fig=
hting for their rights and safety in any line of work, or opposition to war=
