t r u t h o u t | It's the time of year for holiday drives for the poor and needy, and it is laudable and fulfilling to participate in them.
But what if we could create a society that was structured equitably, so that all persons could be compensated economically without a need for acts of charity once a year? What if we had a social order that made food drives unnecessary?
That may be a dream, but at Truthout we believe it is a potential possibility that can be made real. The journalism we publish aims to give it substance.
Thanks to the support of readers like you, Truthout has been able to take full advantage of a generous matching grant offer and moved within sight of our fundraising goal. But we still need to raise over $9,000 by the end of tomorrow to ensure Truthout can start 2014 in good shape.
