t r u t h o u t | "A key reason that many Americans are turned off by polit=
ics is that they don't experience news sportscasters who are on their side.=
"

That's the point Robert Naiman made in a recent story for Truthout. He expl=
ained, "The average American, if she reads The New York Times, would feel l=
ike a Chicagoan watching the Cubs game on St. Louis TV. Her team hits a hom=
e run and the sportscaster is melancholy. Her team strikes out, and the spo=
rtscaster does a dance. Who wouldn't be turned off?"

The corporate media doesn't care much for the interests of ordinary America=
ns, let alone the rest of the world's population - who hardly get a look-in=
unless they're part of a tiny, super-rich global elite.

Truthout is different. We're not on the side of transnational mega-corporat=
ions (and we don't take their money). We believe in representing the concer=
ns and needs of the people who normally get left out of the story.

To keep doing this, Truthout must raise almost $30,000 more in the next few=
days - and we won't get there unless you help. Right now, any donation you=
make will be doubled as part of a matching grant - will you join today wit=
h the hundreds of readers like you who've given so far?
