own people. An American president who doesn't think he needs congressional=
approval to launch air strikes. And a corporate media that is all too eage=
r to urge on the prospect of war for the sake of their ratings.
This is all sounding a little too familiar, isn't it?
A moment like this makes it clearer than ever why the world needs independe=
nt media to challenge the mainstream media's warmongering drum beat. From o=
ur earliest days, Truthout opposed the invasion of Iraq. Now we're one of t=
he few havens for voices speaking out against missile strikes on Syria. We =
don't have corporate advertising and the pressure for high ratings.=20
But there's no guarantee we'll be able to keep doing this, not without you.=
Truthout must raise almost $27,000 more - in less than three days - in ord=
er to continue our mission. A media landscape without counterbalancing inde=
pendent voices is a truly frightening prospect.
