deadline for what Truthout's William Rivers Pitt calls "the sequester ax t=
rembling over the neck of the nation." Wasn't it just a couple of short mon=
ths ago we were being threatened with another self-imposed crisis - the fis=
cal cliff?
Truthout won't stop uncovering the reality behind D.C. rhetoric: The devast=
ating consequences of more cuts to social programs, as well as where taxpay=
er money is "really" being wasted (hint: it's a large building with five si=
des). But we have our own financial gap - one that's smaller but much more =
real - and our own deadline this week. Truthout must raise at least $27,000=
more before the end of the month - in less than three days - in order to k=
eep this work going.
