The KMD 250 is intended for piston singles. The new MFD
offers most of the advantages of the KMD550 and 850 displays but
without the radar and terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS)
interfaces, systems the vast majority of singles don’t need.
(Those that do can always use the higher-end KMD display systems.)
The KMD 250 is slightly smaller than the 550 or the 850. With a
3.8” diagonal display, compared with the 5” screen of the
MD 550, the size difference is slight. The 250 measures 3”
high, compared to 4” for the 550. The software and remaining
capabilities on the KMD 250 are nearly identical to those on the KMD
550, so pilots familiar with one of Honeywell’s other MFDs will
have an easy time transitioning to the new hardware. Bendix/King
offers 2 versions of the KMD 250, one that gets its GPS data from a
separate GPS navigator and one that has a built-in GPS. The model
with the built-in GPS can be used as a standalone VFR unit, or it can
be interfaced with a separate GPS, such as Bendix/King’s KLN 94

Honeywell’s new Data Link Weather Receiver, KDR 610, brings
high speed textual and graphical weather to your cockpit. This new
receiver interfaces to the Bendix/King KMD 250.Available weather

Heads-Up Audible Position Alert
When a traffic conflict is eminent, pilots need the right information
in real time. First-generation traffic systems only provide a
"Traffic Traffic" audible alert, which then requires the pilot to
look down at the display to locate the relative bearing and distance
of the intruder aircraft before looking out the window.
Avidyne pioneered the concept of Heads-Up Audible Position Alerting,
which verbally indicates the conflicting aircraft's bearing, range
and relative altitude for rapid visual acquisition of traffic. This
automated voice alert uses the same alert terminology as Air Traffic
Control: TRAFFIC! ONE O'CLOCK! HIGH! THREE MILES!
This type of alert provides the data a pilot needs to keep his/her

<br>Heads-Up Audible Position Alert
<br>When a traffic conflict is eminent, pilots need the right information in real time. First-generation traffic systems only provide a "Traffic Traffic" audible alert, which then requires the pilot to look down at the display to locate the relative bearing and distance of the intruder aircraft before looking out the window.
<br>
<br>Avidyne pioneered the concept of Heads-Up Audible Position Alerting, which verbally indicates the conflicting aircraft's bearing, range and relative altitude for rapid visual acquisition of traffic. This automated voice alert uses the same alert terminology as Air Traffic Control: TRAFFIC! ONE O'CLOCK! HIGH! THREE MILES!

<br>Traffic Advisory Systems (TAS), which are based on the technology originally developed for air-transport category traffic alert and collision avoidance systems (TCAS), have been available for general aviation aircraft for several years, but have been cost-prohibitive for many owner-flown aircraft. Until now.
