t r u t h o u t | If our economy was measured based on the condition and opportunity of the working people across the country who make it run, there would be no question - we're in a deep depression. Jobs are nonexistent for millions of Americans who want to work. Hourly wages are on a steady march downward and have been for decades. To make up for it, we work more hours - sacrificing rest and exercise, eliminating time for organizing or intellectual growth, and impeding our already-limited time with our families.
Stretched to their limits, most Americans turn to television - filled almost entirely with quick-fix infotainment and corporate propaganda - for their news. We envision a powerful alternative: a news environment that gives millions of people the information they need to bring about fundamental and radical change.
