*"Howard Zinn on Race" (Book):* With an introduction by Cornel West, this collection of Zinn's essays - on a topic even more pertinent these days, with a new crop of racists crawling out of the woodwork -- provides much needed perspective and hope. The poet W.H. Auden wrote in his verse "September 1, 1939" of the importance of lighting an "affirming flame" in the midst of fear and despair. "All I have is a voice/To undo the folded lie," Auden proclaimed. Howard Zinn's voice on race is a call to action for all our voices to be heard in the cause of justice.

*"Orwell Rolls in His Grave" (DVD):* With the recent exposure of the squalid underside of the Murdoch empire, "Orwell Rolls in His Grave" is a must-see cult classic for those interested in understanding the "double-speak" of the corporate mass media. "Could a media system, controlled by a few global corporations with the ability to overwhelm all competing voices, be able to turn lies into truth?" Yes it could, as Director Robert Kane Pappas emphatically documents.

*"End of the Line" (DVD):* Due to endless human appetites, huge factory ships are now depleting the number of fish in the ocean, which is also experiencing the adverse effects of global warming. The net result is that by 2050, we may no longer have a supply of edible fish from our seas. "Overfishing is the great environmental disaster that people haven't heard about," said the documentary's producer George Duffield.

Le Monde calls it an "extraordinary documentary" about a company as infamous for its production of such toxins as Agent Orange and the pesticide Roundup as for its effort to control the world's food supply through genetically modified crops and the patenting of seeds.
