t r u t h o u t | Leave it to the mainstream media to exploit a horrific crime for ratings and distraction. News channels are again fixated on a court case involving an alleged murder of a child by her mother. *Tragic, yes. Top story? Not so much.*
There are plenty of other options: The four or five wars the US is fighting. The millions of veterans coming home to a devastated economy. A man robbing a bank for $1.00 so he can go to jail to get health care. A steady takeover of our politics by corporate persons who, if they had bodies and souls, would probably be certified as criminally insane. *And of course, the destruction of the fourth estate - the crumbling of journalism as a powerful force to protect democracy, not just to uncover penis-related scandals and read Twitter feeds out loud.*
