t r u t h o u t | Our goal isn't to influence the mainstream media outlets to do their jobs better - they're never going to get their acts together. Truthout and BuzzFlash readers come here because together we're actually building an entire alternative system.
Building an alternative system is critical: if we're going to truly change this country and this planet, we need an information source that is trustworthy and incorruptible - a lofty goal especially in these challenging and uncertain times.
But there's good news! Today, we reached a new milestone - the Truthout community on Facebook is over 100,000 people strong. This thriving new team, built over the last two years, discusses and shares our work far and wide.
Some accuse Truthout of preaching to the choir. Some people even use this as a justification not to donate. Instead, let's rethink the frame. Over the past year we've seen a steady increase in our traffic and explosive growth on social media. Our readers are our biggest advocates, sharing our reporting and helping us to sustain our services with their hard-earned dollars. This isn't a choir to which we're preaching. This is a growing community of people who are living their values by spreading useful information and building an alternative, incorruptible system.
