By procuring a SBA 8(a) Program Certification, your company will:

be eligible for federal government contracts on a non-competitive or limited competitive basis, through a program of federal contracting preferences and set-asides

be eligible for contracts up to $5M for manufacturing and up to $3M for other products and services

show its commitment to the federal market (participation is divided into two phases over nine years: a four-year developmental stage and a five-year transition stage)

have opportunities to form beneficial teaming partnerships and mentoring relationships

automatically qualify as a SBA certified Small Disadvantaged Business ("SDB") program participant

Today's 8(a) Business Development Program has been recently strengthened and improved to the point that it is now a truly effective business development vehicle. New rules make it easier for non-minority firms to participate by proving their social disadvantage. The new 8(a) Program has become an essential instrument for helping socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs gain access to the economic mainstream of American society. In fiscal year 2000, more than 5,400 firms participated in the 8(a) Program and were awarded $5.8 billion in federal contract awards.

Completing and submitting a SBA 8(a) Program application is a daunting task for companies. Most people do not like to write and complete complicated forms, and the problem is compounded by the SBA's insufferable red tape and requests for information. This is particularly true for people working in small businesses who are inexperienced in federal contracting. Many of our customers say they have been struggling with their SBA 8(a) Program application for more than a year.

Our solution to the problem is the SBA 8(a) Program Application Preparation eLab. The eLab is a two-day event held in Bethesda, MD. Our instructors walk attendees through the application process and assist them in leaving the eLab with a completed SBA 8(a) Program application.
