Scopus Implementation
Date: May 3,1996

Working On Milestone:

- Requirements phase scheduled for nine days, and scheduled to be complete by
Tuesday, May 10th. This includes Prototype and Functional Specification.
- Currently on schedule

Accomplishments:

- Began initial requirements phase on Wednesday, May 1st.
- Project kickoff meeting held and attended by all major participants.
- Scope of the project discussed, along with timetable and dates.
- Windows and Macintosh Scopus clients loaded on all machines in lab room
- Normal administrative functions are complete (mail account, workstation,
    phones, access cards, etc.)
- Visual Basic loaded in the lab, four screens produced

Goals:

- Load demo data
- Conduct a walk through of work to date early in the week with the goal
to work towards consensus on screen design and functional specification.
OBTAINING CONSENSUS IS CRITICAL TO COMPLETE EARLY IN THE WEEK
- Produce draft specifications
- Tooltime team review draft specifications
- Produce revised specifications
- Generate prototype via Tcl code in Scopus based on Visual Basic screens

Issues:

- Connectivity to the Scopus DesignTEAM product hindered on server machine
(SQL*NET problem). MIT DBA's working on this issue.
- MAC client interface failed to come up first time. (Missing VMNU object).
Fixed after call to tech support. Issue: Will this happen for each MAC
installation? Scopus tech support is aware of this problem.
- Some data requirements and/or functionality still needs to be resolved.
Possibly need to write statement on model we will follow for data access.

Concerns:

- Performance of the MAC client is slow. Scopus tech support has been called.
- Progress on obtaining specifications for new production machine is moving
   forward, but behind schedule.
- Repair Maintenance team would like a demo of Scopus on May 27. Need to
identify who will conduct demo and what will be available.
- If there is slippage on this weeks goals, it may be completing the
   requirements document
