Update on current contract negotiations
Contract is signed and being faxed!!
Language around SQL*Net, SNS and Kerberos was still fuzzy but as close as
we could get it.
Update on reference checks
Sent around mail regarding reference check with Stream
Still playing phone tag with Reg Gilmore at SunSoft
Update on transition planning
Steve Wade will be stepping in as technical project manager in my absence
Stuff in my office is organized - first shelf, primarily tool stuff
If borrow anything from that shelf, leave post-it indicating what you took
and listing contact info in case someone else needs it.
Discussion of server maintenance issues and options
Roger suggests server resides in W91 under Peter Kelley's domain
Peter Kelley's group works closely with Database Services group - 1 contact
TAP machine W91, and it has worked well with coordination with DS group
Update on Consulting Proposal
Joan Beardsley sent second proposal, much closer to our counter
Their first - 124K, our counter - 32K, their second - 53K
We will tackle getting consulting contract signed next week
Outstanding issues
Space
Need 3 types of space - testing, configuration, meeting
Steve suggested that maybe TAP room in Bldg 16 could be used
2 Macs, 4 Windows machines, a Sun
white boards
Could maybe be "adequate" space for Scopus consultants
Could put more equipment in there if we purchased it
Steve has software tools installed there including Silver Run for
data modelling.
Second server
Need to spec out and purchase additional server machine
Probably similar machine to existing server
Probably make newer machine, production machine
Scopus training
Both Carla and Steve interested in Scopus training
Neither Lynne nor Pete have decided on when/whether they will be going
Need to get some DS group resources
Barbara has sent mail to Carol with shopping list of items we need help on
Hasn't heard anything back
Especially need someone's time to get Oracle installed on new server
Need to firm up with Peter Kelley's group
Need to arrange to move server
Do we know how quickly Scopus consultants could begin work with us?
They know our timeline; they know we want to start immediately.
Action Items
Steve will check with Marilyn re: Bldg 16 space
Barbara will check on equipment budget for Support Tools area
Kim will get purchase info on first server machine to Barbara
Barbara will send Scopus training info to Carla and Steve
Barbara will forward DS mail originally sent to Carol on to ASD-DS
Barbara will contact Joan Beardsley regarding their ability to start working
with us
Barbara will contact bblisa@bblisa.org regarding local Tcl training
Barbara and Steve will meet on Monday 3:30 to go over everything re: tools
Barbara will send mail to others once she has compiled complete list of
outstanding tasks - anyone is welcome to volunteer to take anything on
