Hi,
I'm planning to use Scopus for client call tracking this summer
in a different configuration from what might be the "normal" use.
Please advise of any anticipated difficulties. My plans are
tentative at the moment, but should they materialize, I would be
making the changes described below in mid-August.
Specifically I'm hoping to be able to move my "office" to Carbondale,
Illinois for a period of 11 months to accompany my spouse who has an
academic appointment there. I'd like to take an SGI O2 workstation
running IRIX 6.3 with me. Will the Scopus SGI client run on IRIX
6.3?
I plan to connect it to the internet somehow and conduct the
client services I do now from my temporary home in cyberspace. Is
there anything inherent in the MIT Scopus implementation which would
inhibit my accessing it from somewhere out on the net, not necessarily
with the same IP address each time I log on?
During the period of my "virtual tenure" SGI will be issuing an
upgrade to the IRIX operating system, IRIX 6.5. I expect this to
happen before the end of the year. This will be a platform-spanning
software release (R4xxx Indigo and INDY on up). Do you anticipate that
such an upgrade would adversely affect the utility of the Scopus SGI
client?
Many thanks for your kind consideration,
Mike D.
