At this point, the test database should be available for usage.
The ops group completed the restore at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
This morning, I brought the database up at 09:02:22 and conducted
a small amount of testing using the Solaris client.
The database came up with no errors and the test using the Scopus
client did not produced any problems.

Subject: Help-them status
Hardware status:
/u1 and /u3 are 2G disks, /u4 and /u2 are 1G. The errors that I
noticed after swapping out the bad disk appear to have been because
the scsi chain was too long - this has been corrected by swapping in
shorter cables.
Software status:
I've restored the /u1 partition to the backup as of Friday night
(10/25). I did some looking around to see if it looked like the
backup was before the disk died and it does appear so, however, for
good measure I restored /u3/u1.bck.tar also.
There was some file corruption on the root partition and,
unfortunately, the backups of that partition have apparently never
succeeded. This was apparently due to our not realizing help-them's
non-standard configuration when it was added to our backup schedule.
dkk is working on correcting this so that future backups will work.
The two corrupted files that were detected are /etc/group and
/.klogin. I created /etc/group by hand and edited an old /.klogin to
get something in place. These two files appear to have been corrupted
from the same event, and I could not find evidence of further
corruption, but that's no guarantee. I've done what I can to restore
help-them to it's original state, but someone with more intimate
knowledge of help-them's configuration needs to double check it.
