Scopus Implementation
Date: September 20,1996

Working On Milestone:

- Transition between Beta phase and rollout phase is in progress.

- Working on 1.0b6 as last beta release. Production machine assessment
and rollout readiness activities are on-going.

Accomplishments:

- Completed 1.0b5 (9/10) with database changes, summary searching
- Completed testing 1.0b5 (9/10)
- Began investigation into resources needed for service transition (9/10)
- Conducted 1.0b5 feedback session (9/11)
- Began working towards a 1.0b6 release based on itemized task list (9/11)
- Loaded Scopus tools software onto production machine (9/15), also allocated
AFS locker space for same (9/18)
- Restored faulty hard drive on test (9/15), coordinated new enhanced scheme
to backup database and root partition on the test machine.
- Completed migration of the Oracle database from test to production (9/20)
- Began a number of initiatives, including investigation into Brio Query,
released fourth draft on training document (9/17)
- Began conversation with McGill University on their use of Scopus (9/20)

Goals:

- Test clients against production machine to ensure a stable environment
- Test development tools on production machine
- Continue with production machine review, include installing SNS
- Refine rollout schedule, migration planning, technology transfer
- Complete release 1.0b6 (subject to review of outstanding issues)
- Refine both the training guide and the programmer's guide, determine use
   of Brio Query

Issues:

- Outstanding Macintosh problems, Scopus duplicated problem against our
database. Waiting for a reply. Sent mail on August 7, received reply
that engineering is aware of problems, no new information. Issues
numbers are: 11337 (characters disappear in child entry fields),
11338 (sorting column headings of result sets), 11339 (printing issue).
--> Latest update is three week response for fix.

- InformTEAM (for generation of automated business rules) needs problem
resolution. Mail sent to Scopus (8/29), need follow up.

- SNS may be delayed - checking into Windows 95 issues.

Notes:

- The final beta (1.0b6) is progressing. Record locking seems to be
the final major issue. The production machine is available and awaits
testing. The next major initiative is an understanding of a rollout
schedule, including impact, risk assessment and migration activities.
Once this is completed (9/24), we should have a date for the release.
