I spent the last 1.5 hours installing Scopus. With Wade's help, I got
Oracle working but not Scopus. I can log in to help-them via sqlplus,
but when I start Scopus I get a quit-with-error-of-type-1
error. Anyone have any suggestions?
I first had to install Oracle, which turned out to be a bit of a
pain. During the installation, Wade came along and mentioned he put an
Oracle install script on net-dist. Apparently the install script does
its thing with one simple click of a button. If you're installing
Oracle, you may want to check out his script instead of installing "by
hand."
A couple of comments:
o we couldn't find a Scopus preferences file,
which Wade found unusual.
o I was looking at the files on the Scopus install disk, and I
rather innocently asked Wade, "What's this zap file?" He said,
there's a zaptcp file?! That's something developers use when debugging
tcp applications. It closes a connection that's been broken. I'm surprised
that it's on the installation media."
