The new Help Desk application version 1.0b4 is ready for testing.
Lynne made many improvements based on feedback from the 1.0b3 release.
There is even a history search function (Brett may need to send mail on the
instructions). At the end of this message are some notes from Lynne.
Release 1.0b4 notes are in the MOTD as well as rolling release notes are
available at:
http://web.mit.edu/tooltime/www/scopus_release_notes.html
The goal of this round of testing is to evaluate the application when
taking phone calls. Rob Smyser and Peter Ragone have agree to team up to
enter data into both Filemaker and the Scopus application. If others are
available, and are interested, we would welcome any additional parallel
testing.
We are looking for an early September 1.0 release date. Your help in
testing this application will help us determine if we are ready to meet
release 1.0 criteria to record, retrieve, and annotate logs within a
reasonable manor.
We are in the process of writing a training document and would be
interested in your ideas and hints of what is needed to help new
consultants.
If you have questions, please see members of the Scopus implementation
team. Lynne can help with new accounts or software distribution.
Please send comments to <tooltime-bugs@mit.edu>.
The deadline for testing is Friday morning August 23, 1996. The tooltime
team will meet at 2:00 pm 16-720 to review the comments.
Thanks for your help.

Here are some notes from Lynne:
There are a few things you will need to be aware of before you start testing.
- When you are using the *Lookup button you will see %'s appended to what
you typed, they are the wild card search characters. These characters and
and what you typed will not disappear when a search fails. This is the way
it is supposed to work.
- When you are filling a record from a result set you must clear the screen
before you choose from the result set. This is because of record locking,
in order for the record locking to work you must clear the screen before you
fill from a result set.
- When you receive a discard message it is legitimate. There are changes to
the screen, on some occasions whether you made a change or not the screen
has changed. Please hit the Save button, then clear the screen.
- Software category still needs updating. The data warehouse information has
not been updated in a few weeks.
