Well I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that the server
install went off without a hitch. The bad news is that the client installs
did not go as smoothly. We were successful at getting a Unix client
installed. We so far have been unsuccessful with a Windows or Mac install,
though we didn't spend much time on the Mac. The client problems we are
having have more to do with Scopus connecting to the Oracle database than
with Scopus.
Some of the problems we encountered on the Windows platform, Brett seemed
to recall from the last install this past summer. Brett thought that he
and Alicia had written up some notes and posted them to the help-it discuss
meeting, but didn't find them there when he went looking. Alicia, do you
recall these notes and/or have the ability to dig up a copy of them?
For the Mac install, we need to have Oracle TCP and SQL*Net installed on
the Macs. Of course, we didn't have this readily handy down in W91 where
we were attempting to do 1 client install of each flavor. Apparently we
had some Oracle stuff in a file cabinet in the old Help-IT room in Bldg 16
which I am going to try to dig up, but if I cannot find this stuff, I will
be contacting someone in E19 to get the Oracle pieces we need to install.
Scopus training/consulting is currently scheduled for next Monday 1/30 and
Friday 2/2 all day both days. We have booked the electronic classroom
14-0637 for 9-5 both days.
Large thanks to Brett and Lynne for working so diligently with the Scopus
rep today to get this install to happen. Big thanks to Carol for
responding to our plea for Oracle username help. Big thanks to Carla for
helping to identify a room for our training next week.
