Yes I tried that for exactly 3 days.

I was swamped with messages.
My  non sap emails obviously appeared in randon places with in the 50 sap
messages which meant I spent a long time trying to find them.
I couldnt  use message threading very effectively at all.

Whats wrong  with with a moderated usenet group ??
Maybe 1 or 2 (ie ABAP , Basis , Modules , that kind of think.)
Gosh wouldnt it be nice to have a structure for message retrieval??

Check Out Borland for a half way decent example of structed newsgroups.

Ok Thats enough (soapbox being kicked back into the corner for another day).

PS if there is something that the mail list can do that usenet cant I'd be
interested to know what ???
