As far as I know SAP R/3 is not ODBC-compliant. But it is not
recommended to acces the system by that interface anyway. SAP has its
own data dictionary and repository within the databases and does not
really use the functions that the database system provides. That is
because the system is to run on many different platforms and therefor
only uses the small functionality that is common in all systems.
If you access the system by direct database access you won't have any
consistence checks or other functionality that should be provided by a
business application.
To supply data to or retrieve data from SAP you should think about using
the standard interfaces , that are: BAPI/Business objects, RFC or EDI.
In some applications (such as CO-PA) you have some im- and export
functionality to up- and download mass-data. Maybe you could check that
one?
