Greetings,

I read with interest the post by Larry Dresser on backend platforms
and databases. My client organization has similar concerns. We are
primarily a Sybase shop with a mix of UNIX and NT servers. We now must
choose how to support SAP given that Sybase is not in the running.

In terms of compatibility, we would be most comfortable with MS SQL
Server because of its similarity to Sybase. The concern we have is one
of scale. Our projected user base is of about 600 users. I would
personally expect that there would likely be about 60 concurrent
transactions in the DBMS at any given point in time.

First off, I would like to know if *anyone* has implemented on this
scale. If so, I would be very interested in what your issues have been
and what technology you settled on and why.

Secondly, I would also like to know how big some of the MS SQL Server
sites are and what hardware platform they run on.

Thirdly, I would appreciate any suggestions as to DBMS and hardware. I
have a long DBMS background, but am new to SAP.

I am interested in failed implementations as well (maybe more so than)
successful ones.

Thanks in advance,

Rick Gebethner
