Batch Determination in Pick List

When using the transaction code CO27 (Pick List), the batch
field is required for each component in the picking list.
When working with batches (4 fixed batches per material),
how can the batch be automatically determined obeying FIFO at
IM module ? It has already been tried to fill the batch
field with "*", but the system returns message M7116 (as a
error) "Batch * not maintained"
Note: the batch for the component must be determined exactly
at Pick list time.
We are in 3.0E.
