Hi,

My name is Tom and would like to give a reply on your question.

In most cases within SAP R/3 environments it is usual to have a Database
server and a Application server seperated from each other. Of course lots
of components refer to this, such as, what modules are you using, how many
users are actual logged on, how many Dialog processes are available etc.
etc.

When you have lots of Dialog processes running it is advisable to have
these processes running on a seperate server. This for performance reasons.
When you have only spool-, update-, and enqueue processes on your Database
server the performance is better and the activities to the database are
faster, when users are logged on to a appl. server.

There are more things to telle about it, but hopefully you can do anything
with it.
If you would like to have examples for setting up a SAP R/3 System
Environment, please let me know.

Regards,
Tom.van.den.Heykant@nlbdafsc.origin.nl
