System Management in SAP environment

Our installation is R/3 3.0F on Sun/Solaris 2.5
With regards to system management at both the SAP/Oracle and OS
level, ie Space management, performance management, problem alerts
etc. do you find the SAP tools to be adequate or do you find it
necessary to use a third party solution? If so, what tools are
recommended?
