At BHP Petroleum Australia/Asia we would like to have the POSTING DATE
field on the financial document header to default to a pre-defined date
(the first day of the following month) for the last three or four days of
each month.

By having our Fiscal Year Variant table configured to the last day of each
month but closing off Accounts Payable and Material transactions before the
last day has been reached, we will be causing some users problems in trying
to post documents between these two dates. We understand that the user can
override the Posting Date field (and "hold" data), however some postings
(especially from our Supply module) are generated automatically and will
"bomb out" during this time period. Here's why: the Posting Period table
will be set so that account types D, K and M are NOT allowed to post into
the current period, but according to the Fiscal Year Variant table (which
the Posting Date field looks at to determine what period the document
should post to) the documents are current period postings, therefore an
error occurs.

Does anyone know how to modify the POSTING DATE field default (this is
currently "todays date") ?

Does anyone encounter similar problems in closing off certain functions
early (such as Accounts Payable and/or Materials) at month end and if so,
how do you overcome the above issue ?

Would appreciate any feedback on this topic in the next week or two if
possible as this is a year end specific project which needs to be resolved
in the next couple of weeks.
