SAP has a line of business (or IBU - international business unit, as if
there weren't enough) called Metal, Paper and Wood that contains Sap Mill,
where the core application is developed for the textile industry. it
considers the problem of having very few raw materials and a lot of
variations for the end product, varying units of measure for lot control
throughout the production, special lengths to be cut from rolls etc. etc.
hope this info helps.
