I am currently trying to evaluate how a possible deployment of SAP will affect
network performance, especially the printing of reports. I know very little
about how SAP works. I was hoping that someone could help me out by either
answering some of the questions below or pointing me to some sources where I
might be able to find this out.
1. Do you typically have all App Svrs running the Spool Work Process or only
one? 2. Typically, is the print spooler running on the App Svr with the spool
work process? If not where is it normally setup? 3. Does the App Svr send to
Spooler as one large packet? Does spooler send to printer as one large
packet? 4. Are the printers typically local to the Pres Svr or App Svr (i.e.
not across the WAN)? 5. What are the typical reports for the various modules?
6. What are the typical range in size of these reports? 7. If you do not use
"Print Immediate" does the print job become a background process? 8. Are
there automated background print jobs? 9. What is the size of a print request
from the Pres Svr? 10. Does the App Svr send any reply data to the Pres Svr
when it recives a print request? If so what is the size of the reply?
Thanks in Advance.
