i thought of another solution and is as belows
I am going to restore my PRD (oracle 9) to DEV (oracle 8) and vice
versa. In my PRD, I have a full offline
backup scheduled in db13 to a DDS-4 tape. With this tape, I am going
to restore PRD to my DEV.
I am going to do the below 2 tasks
A) Restore my PRD_A (oracle 9) to DEv_B (oracle 8)
B) Restore my PRD_B (oracle 8) to DEV_A (oracle 9)
PRD_* and DEV_* are SAP servers.
I have 2 solutions at the moment. And will greatly welcome for more
advise...
A.1) DEV (oracle 8) will be kept intact. There are enough space for
PRD (oracle 9)
Steps
1) Same procedure as installing a SAP with oracle 9
2) but stopped at loading the database
3) restore the backup copy from PRD (oracle 9). the command used to
restore is "brrestore -b <coded_timestamp>.<fid> -m full". This file
<coded_timestamp>.<fid> is tied to the same one with what is shown in
the DB13 log.
B) Restore my PRD_B (oracle 8) to DEV_A (oracle 9)
B.1) Due to insufficient space, DEV_A has to be removed of oracle 9.
then same steps as (A)
Alternate solution
1) Remove all the DEV filesystems
2) Create the PRD filesystems
3) the command used to restore is "brrestore -b
<coded_timestamp>.<fid> -m full". This file coded_timestamp>.<fid> is
tied to the same one with what is shown in the DB13 log.
4) This will restore the complete PRD system. Problem is that this
restored system is a 8.1.7. But the one in DEV is 9 therefore the
binary is different. Hence I need to upgrade this current copy to PRD
by
a. upgrade the cloned 8.1.7 database to 9.2.0 by running
