libsaprfc.a to shared library conversion?

Hello,
I'm using librfc.a on Tru64 5.1b.
It's shipped by SAP as a static library currently bigger than 14MB.
I've managed to convert this to a shared library, and everything seems
to work well.
Does anybody see any inconvenience or problem in using the shared
library instead of the static one? Why doesn't SAP ship a shared library
for this platform?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Although everything looks nice, I'd
be more confortable if I had some feedback from more experienced people.
