Well said Scott, it is about time someone came to the defense of
poor old SAP (I know you would also defend Pete).
The issue is not only the factor of buying a package system (we
sometimes forget that that is what SAP is), and having to
configure it to our Business needs for example our security
requirements, but also the concept that is SAP. Security has
always been a big issue when implementing SAP. Is it the fact
that the system is so complex that it is difficult to tie it down
to a sufficient level of detail for security, or is it the fact
that the SAP concept/culture what ever you want to call it, is
the trust and empowerment of your users to do their job? My
personal opinion is that it is the second reason and for we still
have several miles to go in the bridge between current Business
requirements and SAP. (both sides need to extend their side of
the bridge).
