Thei don't use a UNIX-Pipe, they are using TCP-Sockets for their  
communication, using over these sockets Remote Procedure Calls, and  
sending data over it, thats why You have to use the numberrs 00-99 for  
connecting to the server. (see also: /etc/services, soket numbers 3200 to  
3299 I guess).
