For a while I was running the Digital UNIX client on a DU box
and exporting the display to a Linux X server. That obviously
doesn't actually represent running SAPGUI under Linux.
There's rumor (a goodly year old) of a Java version of SAPGUI;
it would be entirely plausible that *that* would run nicely
on one of the Linux-based Java bytecode interpreters. But that
seems pretty much to be a "fabled" port rather than any useful
reality. And SAPGUI's enough of a "system pig" that I'd expect
a Java version to be rather slow.
There have been less-likely rumors floating around of Linux
versions of SAPGUI floating around inside SAP AG. It's quite
possible that it exists, but that SAP isn't too interested in
releasing it to the world. It's rather hard to "productize."
