THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME:
I am an IBM maiframe programmer with skills in VS COBOLII, DB2, CICS. I was
considering switching to R/3 as it is now available on S\390(mainframes).
However, none of the courses at the SAP Partner Academy offer courses for
minframe professionals. Thus I'll be constrained to take courses for R/3 on
NT/UX.
1) What is the depth-of-knowledge of
(a) NT,(b) Oracle/Informix/.... (c) TCP/IP required for ABAP/4 programming?
I have a solid working exposure to DB2(on MVS, the mainframe's operating
system) which is an excellent RDBMS.
Also, if I take an additional course in a module like MM, would I be
expected to have proficiency in the above mentioned areas.
Ideally, I would see myself taking these courses, work with a client/server
implementation of R/3 for a couple of months & then shift back to the S\390
implementation of R/3 as they are more widely implemented. (As of now,
there has been only one successful implementation of R/3 on S/390, by Carl
Zeiss of Germany.)
Once again the inconvenience is regretted & your co-operation is immensely
appreciated.
Thanking you very much,
Mitesh Rastogi.
