Additional NT instance in Unix environment

We're using an IBM RS/6000 AIX machine as a central instance and database machine
with SAP R/3. Now we want to add an additional instance to the system running
on a Windows NT. Is it possible? Or must we have additional software to let
the two instances communicate with each other.
