Data Certification for SAP R/3: How To Do It?

I have a client who is embarking into the brave new world of SAP R/3.
One requirement the integrator has is that EVERY data element should be
certified. We have some ideas of how to do this, but I'm sure we have
overlooked some pitfalls. I, for one, am not convinced that this is
necessary for SAP installation, but having never worked with the
product, could be wrong. Any ideas, comments, suggestions, anecdotes,
pitfalls, showstoppers, or other lessons learned you would care to share
would be greatly appreciated. I will aggregate the data and repost in
the near future; all names will be changed to protect the guilty.
