Funny how these people get hired....

....maybe its for their ability to analyse problems, cautious in not
offering simplistic "answers", but triggering others to think and
thereby gain a better understanding of the problem. Of course, he could
keep quiet and let others take on board that "logic" :)

A matter of opinion, just like how much someone should be paid. Do you
read every item in this newgroup? - what you find boring might be dead
interesting and worth while to others.
>( and like you are forcing me to do in this one as well )
I have now removed my gun from your head, so please feel free to email
me instead of posting it to this newsgroup. I thought about emailing
this to you myself, but I thought some might find it an interesting
read, but then again some might not (and to anyone in this category, my
sincere apologies).

Not in my experience.

You want a range of salaries. I'll give you a range of salaries. In the
UK, anything from GBP18,000 to GBP500,000, _or above_. Sounds
outrageous? Not if your year was spent at SAP Waldorf developing SAP 3.0
and a client was dying to have you.

You mean the mean. But then sometimes people prefer the mode, or the
median, which can all be very different. Maybe a weight average? Give a
higher weighting for more recent observations, take into account
seasons, give a higher weighting for more relevant observations, etc...
But in what proportion? What the heck, lets make up a few figures and
make it look scientific and not at all subjective.

Erm... I don't think there will be a next time; tasted it, didn't like
it, won't be lured into eating it again!

You don't have to be sorry for thinking it was a difficult concept. I
certainly didn't think it was. If you're so intent on getting figures,
approach a good number of agents; they're usually pretty good at making
up figures based on years of experience alone. You can then "..take all
the values, add them together, and divide by the number of values..." to
arrive at the figure that you're so desperate to get, and which I
considered improper to offer.

Strange, but I don't remember anyone else posting to this topic. If only
I had followed suit.
