Hi S-Plus users,

We have some problems with compiling and loading C-Code
Perhaps we make a fundamental error!?

We are using S-Plus Version 3.1 for Windows and
Watcom C/C++32 Optimizing Compiler and Tools 9.5.

The following environment variables are set in the AUTOEXEC.BAT:

	Set PATH=C:\WATCOM\bin;C:\WATCOM\binb;C:\WATCOM\binw;
	         C:\DOS;C:\WINDOWS;C:\SPLUSWIN\CMD
	Set watcom=C:\WATCOM
	Set include=C:\WATCOM\H
	Set SHOME=C:\SPLUSWIN
	Set S_TMP=C:\SPLUSWIN\TMP

We have done this:

First we compiled the C-Code in DOS with

	"COMPILE test.c"

Because of using S-Plus Version 3.1, only statical load is available.

	"LOAD test.obj"

In this way we got a new S-Plus executable "nsplus.exe". We copied this
new executable nsplus.exe into the directory c:\spluswin\cmd.

Using the File Manager in Windows we double clicked on the new version
of S-Plus.

But only

"System terminating: No legitimate database in S_Work
	and $HOME/_Data not createable"

appeared.

Checking of the "splus.ini" showed a correct setting of the work and
home directories. We tried so many (for example: explicit setting
of S_Work/S_Home in DOS), but nothing solved this problem.

Thanks for any hints,
Steffi Goebel
