Thanks to all the people who tried to help me with my
epsf troubles. Of all the things I tried today, I think
the answer turned out to be this:
postscript(..., onefile=F)
With SPlus, using the onefile=F argument guarantees that I get
encapsulated postscript (epsf) output and my troubles are
minimized.
Nobody was impolite enough to tell me to read the manual,
but that's what I needed to do.
