coplot problem

When I make the following coplot the usual

               Given: Variable Name

does not appear with the variable name. Instead it prints
               Given:

When I remove the ylab="FATIGUE",xlab="SLEEP" statement the
Given: Variable Name appears correctly. Is this a bug? Is there a
way to use my own labels and still get a Given: Variable name (or even
better a label of my choice)"

coplot(jitter(FATIGUE)~jitter(SLEEPSCA) | DEPINEX,data=fat2,
panel=function(x,y) panel.smooth(x,y,span=1,degree=1),
ylab="FATIGUE",xlab="SLEEP")

Using S-Plus 3.2 for windows.

Thanks,
