I have posted that Island has a package ($500 educ price) that allows for
structured drawing and editing of S+ plots under UNIX. IslandDraw produces
true PostScript figures from Splus plots. Structured drawing means that,
for example, a axis label can be moved, rotated or emboldened.
Arrows and text or drawings can be added. Island programs import and
export files of other formats quite easily and they produce true encapsulated
postscript files that can be printed outside the native environment.
