[S] Printing a gam() plot

S-Plus'ers:
I am trying to print a plot that was derived from a gam() fit.
I fit a logistic regression model using gam(), and the plot
shows the log-odds against the covariate, with pointwise
95% SHADED interval (and not just the lines). When I view the
plot using trellis (motif ()), it appears fine; however when I
print it, the shaded are does not get printed for one half of
the graph !
Has anyone experienced similar problems ? What is the solution ?
I'd appreciate insights/help to rectify this problem. I'm
running S-Plus 3.4 on the UNIX. Thanks.
