[S] persp() function on a log-scale

I need to generate a 3-D graph, using the persp() function. However,
the z-axis need to be on a log-scale, and I cannot figure out how
to do that. I tried using the "log" option
persp(pnd,surface, log="z")
but that doesn't work either. Browsing the manuals or online help
files didn't take me far, and would appreciate help from someone.
