[S] Object Explorer vs. Object Browser

Having just received S+ 2000, I've been trying to come up to speed
on the differences between the Object Explorer (OE) and the old Object
Browser (OB).
I've learned how to create folders within the new OE that look
like the folders in the old OB, such as DataFrame, Functions, Vectors,
Matrix, etc. Previously, in an attempt at project control, I had saved an
old OB to an .sbf file and had used it to start S+ 4.5, along with setting
the S_PROJ= command line parameter to the appropriate directory.
I can't seem to get a neat way to do that with the OE, likely out
of ignorance. I tried the User's Guide technique of creating a shortcut
to SPLUS.exe and setting the command line option S_PROJ= to the
appropriate _Data directory. That works, sort of. Tha approriate
directory is attached, but the OE that is brought up contains a single
Data folder with all mu data objects crammed in there, instead of parsed
out into folders.
To address this, I manually created the folders I wanted with the
characteristics I wanted, saved the OE and restarted. This didn't do
what I'd wanted. I also tried starting S+ with the OE itself, which
also didn't work.
I've come up with a way to do what I want, by autoloading a
workspace file, but it seems to be a kludge and still not quite right.
How best can I set up a desktop shortcut that, when invoked, starts up S+
2000 in the proper directory, with the proper data bases attached and with
an OE that has things mapped out in the way I've described?
