[S] how to customize boxplot "names"?

Hi. I wish to draw a series of boxplots over years:
boxplot(split(data,group),names=as.character(1960:1994))
But is there anyway to adjust the intervals of the names? Say I only
want the years 1960,1965, ..., 1995 to be labeled on the x-axis? I
haven't found a way to let S-Plus not draw the names for boxplot so
that I can customize the axis labels.
