[S] Brush & Spin problems in S-Plus 2000

I'm trying to use brush and spin from the menu system of S-Plus 2000
Professional under Windows NT 4.
Are the following two items bugs, or have I missed something? The User's
Guide covers brushing done in a different way (by making a plot and using a
toolbar). Is the "Brush and Spin" menu a fossil feature?
1. The box that selects points is large quite and the buttons that seem to
be meant to change its size have no discernible effect.
2. Under no combination of background and foreground colors are any points
visible. They WERE visible until I changed the colors once (through
Options > Graph Options > Brush & Spin), and now I can't get them back
again, no matter *what* I set the colors to.
