[S] S-Plus Win 2000 crashes on exit

I an having a persistent problem with S-Plus 2000 Professional crashing on
exit. I am using it on Windows NT 4.0/SP5 on a dual-Pentium III PC. When
I exit after using S-Plus for a while, it crashes and a "Dr. Watson" window
comes up. The bad part of this is that preferences (and perhaps functions;
I'm not sure) changed during the session are lost.
This does not happen if S-Plus has been in use for only a few minutes.
I've been in touch with MathSoft, but they have yet to give any solution,
so I thought it would be useful to see if others are experiencing the same
problem.
