David,
Your request is frequently posted to S-NEWS. Here's one solution from a
previous posting:
Many thanks to Chuck Taylor of Mathsoft for a rapid, and effective,
solution, which is as follows:
1. Quit the S+ session.
2. Delete the summary files, "__sum41.txt", "__sum4.txt", and "__sum4.tx_",
from each of the following directories:
\splus4\user\Dorazio\_data (that is, my working directory)
\splus4\splus\_dataset
\splus4\splus\_functio
3. Restart a new S+ session to recreate the files named in #2.
Hope this helps,
Bob Dorazio

This is a revision of a previous message which I sent out by mistake without
a subject header.

attach('mortalty.003',1)
Error in attach.default("mortalty.003"..:

Dumped
"mortalty.003" is a directory that I am trying to attach to the search path.
There is, as far as I know, nothing new in the directory; I have done this
attachment many times before without any problem. The text it is trying to
read, __sum4.txt, is apparently some housekeeping file that Splus maintains
in the directory.
