Subscribers to the S-news list recently received an announcement about the
availability of release 3.1 of the NLME library. From the announcement, I was
not sure if users of S-Plus 2000 need to download the library. I would like to
thank Jose Pinheiro for his prompt reply to a request for clarification of this
point. I am enclosing his kind reply so that other list members can benefit from
Jose's clarification.
Dear John,
S-PLUS 2000 includes the NLME 3.0 library in its standard
distribution, but there have been a few bugs reported in the software
since its initial release (the one included with S-PLUS 2000). You
should download release 3.1 to have these bugs corrected (the only
relevant bug has to do with the calculation of confidence intervals
for variance-covariance components - the intervals reported in release
3.0 are large than they should be).
Best,
--Jose'
Jose' Pinheiro
